The Dixie Central Acquires New Caboose!

The Dixie Central is proud to announce that they have just acquired a new caboose for the line. Instead of spending hours building one in the shop the purchasing department found this one on Ebay and decided that we could give it a little weathering and a dry transfer number and it would be good enough.

Bachmann HO RTR SS Bobber Caboose Red/Unlettered

This caboose is unlettered and already painted, so it will be easy to prepare. I like the fact that it is very small, a key feature on the Dixie Central. The protoype Southern cabooses were quite long, almost as long as our locomotive. So this tiny bobber, albeit unprototypical, will be fine. It has metal wheels and automatic couplers, too. I'm thinking I may add a ladder and some marker jewels to dress it up.

We'll number it X41 to give it a little Southern flavor.
